Obituary of Elizabeth Hersberger

Elizabeth (Assmann) Hersberger, late of Milestone, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the age of 93 years in Esterhazy SK. She was born October 22, 1921 in Stoughton SK, the oldest of nine children to David and Catherine Metzger. Beth has been predeceased by her parents; first husband Edward Assmann (1975), second husband Marshall Hersberger (1995); brothers and sisters in law, Fred (Isabel), Carl (Connie), Dick Merlice), Eddie (Chris) and John; sisters Lorraine (Fred) Flaman, Edna (Jim) Wemyss; step son Doug and great grandson Jacob Heit. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Dawn (Randy) Schramm, daughter Calla (Riley) Erickson, Gavin and Landon, son Rhett (Rebecca),Henry, and Sandra (David) Krywchuck daughters Kim (Ryan) Heit Tyler and Lucas, Kerri (Joel) Holmes Ainsley, Morgan and Natalie; sister Eleanor (Gabor) Kanyok; Marshalls children and grandchildren, Judy Glagau , son Bryce (Lori Artimenko) Taylor, Toni, Danica and Mason, daughter Carla (Chris) Avery, Payton, Ross and Lucas, Janet (Robin) Smith, daughter Jennifer (Curtis) Wickman, Rebecca and Callum, Susan Ward, sons Jeff and Jason, Jonathon Silzer, Russell (Fenna Schaapen),Davis, Bette (Tom Erdman) Tamara and Torey, Chuck daughters Shelby and Ariel, Kate Hersberger (Bill Cheers, deceased), son Max, daughter Daisy, stepsons John Cheers, children Ara and Drew, Michael Cheers, son Zak, and Daniel (Shannon) Cheers. Beth was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother to a large extended family who will all have special memories of her to hold in their hearts with love. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed baking, canning, sewing, gardening and parenting. She was an active member of the Milestone United Church, playing the organ and singing in the choir for 58 years. She had many hobbies of knitting, hat making, crocheting, decorating wedding cakes, was an avid bridge player, and would never turn down a game of cribbage and played many games of scrabble. Beth had a big heart, at every opportunity she had she would help, take cookies or a casserole to someone in need. It could be said she was generous to a fault, but she will always be remembered for these acts of kindness. Funeral service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina SK, Friday, December 12, 2104 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev Alex Taylor officiating. Internment in Regina Memorial Gardens. Friends so wishing may make a donation in Beth’s memory to the charity of their choice.
