Anne Kuntz

Obituary of Anne Kuntz

Anne Kuntz (nee Magus) 1922 – 2014 With her family by her side, Anne passed away peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2014. She is predeceased by her husband Harry, her three brothers and two sisters. Anne is survived by her daughter Cheryl; sons Les (Debbie) and Don (Arlene); four grandchildren: Lisa, Ryan, Colin, Joel; and three great-grandchildren, Ryan’s Stella and Lisa's Nolan and Kyler. Born in Saskatoon, Anne grew up in Vonda, part of a large pioneering Ukrainian family. The youngest child, she spent the summers on the farm with her parents, Anna and John, and school time in town with her oldest sister Mary and her husband Mike. She was everyone's greatest secretary -- whether for Mutual of Omaha or for the Regina Lioness Club. Her friend Hazel always said she made being President easy -- she was the hard worker who made every end meet. Everybody would always say: "ask Anne." She acted as the archivist for the Regina Lioness Club and volunteered in the community for years, notably for the CNIB. She loved watching sports. Retiring after 30 plus years, her retirement present was box seats in Toronto for a Blue Jays game. Sunday dinners were feasts: standing rib roasts with all the trimmings and meringue-topped pies. Everywhere Mom went, she brought her signature squares and pies, even sending care packages of shortbread and the world's best cornflake almond squares to her daughter in Vancouver. Her favourite time of the year was Christmas and she could make Christmas like no one else. She passed on the specialness of these family holiday celebrations to her children. Her family enjoyed a last Christmas dinner with her on December 12th. Her smile would light up a room and she could surprise everyone with a song at just the right moment. From 2010 - 2013, she lived at Qu’Appelle House and since October this year at the Regina Lutheran Special Care Home. Her family is profoundly grateful to all her caregivers, in particular her longtime friend and caregiver Louise Thompson. Anne's family loved her deeply and will remember her always. We are all thankful for having her in our lives for a beautifully long time. Funeral Liturgy will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Stephen Bill presiding. Flowers gratefully declined.
