Obituary of William Zbytnuk

WILLIAM ZBYTNUK WILLIAM ZBYTNUK, late of Regina, SK, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the age of 82 years. Predeceased by his father and mother, Dan and Mary, brothers, Matt and Walter, sisters, Edna Sereduik and Ann Yakimishyn, and his wife Olive Pauline Zbytnuk (nee Korpan). William is survived by his sister, Janet Morris, numerous nieces and nephews and other family members. Bill was born in Insinger, Saskatchewan on the 18th of May, 1932. He was raised on the family farm. He moved with his family to Regina in 1950. Bill married Olive on the 15th of June, 1957. They lived in Phoenix, Arizona during most of their working years until Olive’s passing on the 7th of February, 1992. After her death, Bill returned to Regina where he lived until his passing. Bill was a devout Christian. He believed deeply in his faith and the fundamental tenets of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He was a lifelong and permanent member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Descent of the Holy Spirit. He sang in the Church Choir for as long as his health permitted. He treasured the traditions of the Church community and the many dear friends he met through the Church. He lived at Selo Gardens among his friends of the Ukrainian community until he required special care in his final years. Bill was a kind, generous and welcoming spirit. He was honest. He lived simply and modestly. He did not want for anything material. He held his friends long and close. He had a warm heart for all of those who brought him into their lives. He loved his wife, Olive. He was “Uncle Bill” to all those who knew him. In his later years, he was especially grateful for his close friends, the care and friendship of his nephew, Kevin Zaplitney, niece, Dana Zaplitney and the many caring people at the William Booth Special Care Home. Uncle Bill’s Funeral Rite will be conducted by Rev. Fr. Michael Maranchuk at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Descent of the Holy Spirit, 1305 – 12th Avenue, Regina, Sask. Interment at Regina Memorial Gardens. Requiem (Panachyda) will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Uncle Bill’s memory to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Descent of the Holy Spirit. ‘Vichnaya pamyat’ (memory Eternal)
