I am deeply sorry to learn of the passing of my friend, Lawrence. We first met very coincidentally when he attended a Comedy Festival in Winnipeg, hoping to laugh his way into good health. Our friendship grew as we discussed life, health and the arts in long email conversations, and also, his illness. He faced life and death with courage and heart. He spoke about how friendships and relationships had become the most important thing to him, though he never wavered in championing a worthy cause and I think he had a great gift for this. He always spoke of his son and daughter and Josee, and how he was so fortunate to have her with him on this very complicated journey. Lawrence returned for another Comedy Festival in a more somber mood, knowing that his cancer was still with him. We had some deep conversations, dinners, and walks through the park. He valued the beauty in every moment. He will be very dearly missed.

My deepest sympathy to Larry's family. I was so very sorry to see the news of his death in the paper today. Larry was one of the most professional and gracious people I have ever had the priviledge to work with over the years. He was an amazing force for change with the SUN organization, and did so much that was positive for all. He will be missed very much. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Deepest condolences in the passing of Larry. I knew Larry well when we were young union organizers and reps. I always admired Larry's vitality and committment to social justice. He carried that energy and sense of justice all througout his life and his final life's work as a great advocate for people with cancer. Viva Larry!

It is with great sadness I extend my sympathies to Lawrence's family. He was a wonderful role model to many of us at the YMCA. I will miss his energy, optimistic outlook on life and positivity. He and I shared many personal chats about life that I always enjoyed and looked forward to. I am sure he is free of his pain and in a better place. I will always remember him as a dear friend. God bless him and give his soul rest. Fly free Lawrence knowing you made a contribution and were loved by those us who knew you.

I am so very sorry to learn of Lawrence's passing. He and I first connected back in 1984 with the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses and again in 2007 with the WSI Mentoring Project. I am sorry we didn't get the chance to do that final lunch back in November. It has been a pleasure to know him and work with him. He was truly passionate about life and will be dearly missed. My sympathies to all his family. May the happy memories you have keep you strong in this journey of grief.

I met Larry through the Boys in The Hills Mountain Bike trip to Banff, 8 boys ( men) for 5 days of outdoor fun. Of all the characters (they were all characters) Larry stood out with his quick wit, enthusiasm for life and engaging personality. At the last Cathedral Village Arts Fesitval Glenn arranged for a few of us to meet at the beer garden and despite his health challenges it was the same old Larry; living life to the fullest. I am so lucky to have met Larry and am proud to call him a friend. He will will missed. ....Mark and Carolyn
