Obituary of Edith Ida Frombach

EDITH FROMBACH Edith passed away peacefully on Thursday December 18, 2014 at the age of 104 years. She was predeceased by her husband Paul and son Charles. Edith is survived by her daughter Joyce; grandchildren Mark, Russ and Paula; 6 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and her sister Freda. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday December 23, 2014 at 10:00 am with Rev. Jim Balfour officiating. Interment will follow in Regina Memorial Gardens. Edith Ida Frombach August 11, 1910 – December 18, 2014 104 years old Edith was born to Frank and Charlotte Kurtz, along with four siblings – three sisters, Ella (Lechner), Olga (Hoffman), and Freda (Frombach); and brother, Rudolph. They farmed in the Edenwold District and she attended Winnetka School for 8 years, after which she helped her dad farm with horses – harrowing and other farm chores. Edith met and later married a close neighbor named Paul Frombach on October 25, 1933. On January 19, 1935 she became a mom to Joyce and later adopted a son, Charles. She was a great helpmate on the farm in the North Avonhurst District, helping to milk 12 cows morning and night (she did most of them), feeding pigs – they didn’t dare squeal, ‘cause she stuffed food to them until they were fat “like pigs”, raised chickens, sold eggs, cream and butter to the stores in Avonhurst, stooking, feeding the threshing gangs, even took teachers in board (I had to give up my room). She was involved as secretary treasurer for the School Board and the United Church Ladies Aide. She became Grandma to Mark, Russell and Paula, then Great Grandma to R.J. Brandon, Nikki Lee, Amanda, Mitchell and Nicholas. Great great Grandma to Harley and Shanelle, and recently, the love of her life, Hunter. After her husband’s heart attack, they moved to Regina. She enjoyed that very much and continued to look after the large yard and house after Paul passed on, but it became too much, so she moved to a suite in Cedar Wood Manor. She walked from there to the Cornwall Centre and back until one day she fell and broke her hip. Upon recovery, she decided to go to a home and so lived in the Lutheran Care Home until the day of her crossing over. She was predeceased by her parents, all of her siblings, except Freda, who is in a home in British Columbia; her husband Paul, her son Charles, and her sons-in-law, Joe and Willie. R.I.P.
