Obituary of Charles Topal

CHARLES TOPAL Charles, late of Fort Qu’Appelle, SK and formerly from Cupar, SK, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the age of 85 years. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife of 63 years, Irmgard; daughter Gloria (Barry) Bigalky of Lipton and son Wes (Candace) of Fort Qu’Appelle; grandchildren, Heath (Crystal), Jarrod (Jodie), Kerilyn, Dianna, Chad (Leigh-Anne), Jodi and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Chyler, Carter, Caitlyn, Olivia and Raelyn. Charles was predeceased by his parents, Enoch and Sabina; brothers, Mike, Vasil, George and Steve; sisters, Helen, Nora, Mary and Anne; and great-granddaughter Jorja. Charles was born at Cupar on March 21, 1929. He had a love of the land and pride in his horses, especially his teams of Percherons. Charles spent many summer days at local horse shows and fairs competing with the ‘Black Team’. He was also very proud to have his team of horses participate in parades. Charles was a farmer and loved doing just that. He took great pride in seeding and harvesting a good crop and enjoyed nurturing the various animals he had on his farm, be it horses, South Devon cattle, donkeys, sheep, pigs, chickens and even pheasants. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 194 Bay Avenue S., Fort Qu’Appelle on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sharron Bodnaryk officiating. Interment is in Cupar Cemetery. Flowers most gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations in memory of Charles, to Echo Lodge, Fort Qu’Appelle, or All Nations’ Healing Hospital, Fort Qu’Appelle, SK.
