Obituary of Gordon Newman

July 26, 1931 – January 9, 2015 It is with great sadness and deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Gordon Newman. Pre-deceased by his father and mother Anton and Barbara; in-laws, Isidor and Agnes Zimmer; infant son Daryl; daughter in-law Iris; siblings and spouses, Peter and Julia, Anton, Gerald, Sophie and Albert Roth, Eva and Joe Bender, Agnes and Victor Baer, Ted Hubenig and Grant Ennis. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Josefa “Teresa”; four sons, Merv and his daughter Jessica (Chris Braun); Mel (Candice), their children Kelly (Nadene), Rob (Ali), James (Tina) and Kimberlee; Murray (Rosa Rolfe) his children Bobbi-Lynn (Donnie) Baker, Brittney and Nick; Clayton his daughter Amanda (Glenn Hoberg); great grandchildren, Noah, Kennedy, Brydon, Owen, Oliver, Harper, Luca, Brooklynn, Brielle, Gracie and Ava; two Sisters Matilda (Jack), Clara and sister-in-law Beatrice, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was raised in Grayson and after they were married, worked on mom’s father’s farm for two years, then moved to Broadview and worked for the CPR until 1957. They then moved to Regina where he worked for Gulf Oil and Petro Canada until his retirement in 1990. Gordon enjoyed spending time and visiting with family and friends, going to dances, golfing and fishing. He was always willing to polka, even if it was in the basement with his grandchildren on Christmas Eve. At dad’s request a private family service will be held at a later date.
