GORDON HENRY BROOKER
It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gordon Brooker on January 9th, 2015 in Sun Lakes, Arizona. Gordon was born in Eganville, Ontario June 24, 1921. He was predeceased by his parents Rose and Albert Brooker; sister Dorothea; daughter in law Debbie (Keith) and his wife Joan. Gordon and Joan were married for 61 years during which they enjoyed a wide range of activities with family and friends. Despite physical distances, they were very close to and dearly loved by all their grandchildren. Gordon is survived by four children; son Terry, wife Judy, children Sarah Lucas (Dwayne) and Rhys (Kristen); son Keith, his children Jason (Amber), great grandchildren Adelle and Tristan, and Lee (Channelle); daughter Karen MacFarlane, husband Bob, children Scott (Sarah), great grandson Reed, and Craig (Heather); son Grant, wife Bev, children Ellen and Chris. Gordon had his early education in Claresholm, Alberta, moving to British Columbia in 1938. He joined the R.C.A.F. and after training in Canada went overseas and served in SE Asia Command in Ceylon and India. On his return to Canada he completed his education at University of British Columbia and after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in Vancouver, moved first to Prince Albert and then Regina where he practiced until his retirement in 1987. Gordon enjoyed his retirement by travelling and spending his winters in Arizona. Golfing, hiking, volunteering and sharing coffee and stories with his friends were precious hours. He was an active Rotarian in Regina and Sun Lakes. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave, Regina, SK, followed by a Celebration of Life at Wascana Golf and Country Club, 6500 Wascana Parkway, Regina, SK.
