Having just met Alfred at Parkside Nursing Home in November, I saw him thru the eyes of my Dad (Stan Nykoliuk), an old friend of Alf's and also a resident of the home. They grew up together, played together, and finally, at the end of their lives reconnected once again. My Dad chatted about the old days and Alf chimed in. It was delightful to see these 2 old gentlemen relive childhood days and games together, their eyes lighting up at the mention of an old friend's name. Heard stories I never knew about and people I wished I had known. My Dad and Alf continued to see one another these last couple of months; whether it was once a week or every other week, I know my Dad truly enjoyed visiting with Alf. He was shocked to hear of his friend's passing and so was I. Alf was truly a special presence, one that won't be forgotten..
