Obituary of Laura Anne Pogue

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Laura Anne on February 8, 2015 at the age of 66. Laura is survived by her husband Basil; daughter Erin (Brad) Wells; mother Margot Paterson; sister, Janet (Barry) Manchak and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her father Alan Paterson. Laura met Basil at the Library School in Edmonton in 1972 and moved with him to Waterloo, Ontario and then to Regina. She worked at the Saskatchewan Provincial Library and Municipal Affairs before moving to the Legislative Library as a Reference Librarian. Laura, Basil and Erin, camped all over western Canada and parts of the western United States, getting as far south as Mesa Verde, Colorado. Laura loved to read; especially Anne McCaffrey, Mercedes Lackey and Star Trek. She loved to cook, do cross-stitch and crochet prayer shawls and was sad when arthritis made her hobbies impossible. She was awarded the Canada 125 Commemorative Medal for her work with her husband in initiating the Project Turkey Christmas hamper program. A cradle Anglican, Laura was active in leading worship and passionate about Stephen Ministry and pastoral care, especially of seniors and residents of nursing homes. The family wishes to thank the emergency room staff of the Regina General Hospital and especially the talented caregivers in Nursing Unit 3E and the Medical ICU. Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing, may make a memorial donation to The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund, Anglican Church of Canada, 80 Hayden Street, Toronto, Ontario.
