Obituary of Floyd Henry

Floyd Henry of College Park Retirement Residence in Regina and formerly of Milestone, passed away Tuesday February 10, 2015 at the age of 95. Floyd was predeceased one month ago by his wife of almost 70 years, Christina; his parents Robert and Sarah Henry; sisters Olive (Harold Pratt), June (Burt Binnington) and Ivy (Gordon MacKay); brother Vernon Henry. He is survived by children Neil (Joan) Henry, Lois Culbert, Wanda (Jim Lauten) and Don (Jill) Henry; grandchildren Greg (Michelle) Henry and children Taylor, Sarah and Tessa, Renee (Corey Hadley) and daughter Faith, Jaelyn (Rob Korsch), Ryan Culbert and children Kelsey and Elaina, Graham (Colette) Lauten and daughter Brooke, Nathan Lauten, Eric Lauten, BreAnne Henry and Jarett Henry; sister-in-law Gwen Henry and many nieces and nephews. Floyd was born December 21, 1919 on the farm near Gray, SK where he lived and worked until he joined the armed forces in 1941. He transferred to the air force and trained as a wireless operator. While on service overseas he received his commission and when discharged held the rank of Flying Officer. After the war he brought his new wife Christina back to the farm where they raised their family and he continued to do the work he loved as long as his health permitted. After farming his second passion was all sports especially hockey, baseball, curling and football. Floyd donated countless volunteer hours to the Milestone Rink and gleaned just as many hours of enjoyment following his beloved Milestone Flyers. A Celebration of Floyd’s life will take place at the Milestone United Church, Milestone, SK, on Saturday April 4, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the Milestone Cemetery.
