Obituary of Sharon Faye Salthammer

SHARON FAYE SALTHAMMER Sharon passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, March 8, 2015 after a short battle with cancer, in Regina, SK, at the age of 69 years. Sharon was born in Prince Albert, SK, on December 14, 1945 to her parents, Cecil and Lillian Sotheran. Sharon was predeceased by her parents; brothers Bob, Rick and Dave Sotheran and a son-in-law Derek DeCook. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Ed and her two daughters Debbie Oberg and Donna Marin. She will be missed by her son-in-law Ken Oberg and grandchildren Ryan, Tyler and Heather Marin (fiancé Landon Clark) and Julia and Madison Oberg. She will be fondly remembered by her sisters Becky (Earl) Onyskevitch, Wanda (Gary) Cluff and Lisa Hrischuk; brothers Ken (Catherine) Sotheran and Greg Sotheran as well as many nieces and nephews. Sharon's hometown was Smeaton, SK until Ed and her married in 1963 and soon after moved to Flin Flon, MB and then later Creighton, SK, which would be home for many years. She first stayed at home to raise her family and later on worked at the local newspaper for many years. Sharon was an excellent cook and seamstress, sewing many figure skating and Halloween costumes, graduation and wedding dresses, along with pajamas for her grandchildren. Sharon enjoyed crosswords, word games, gardening, curling, drawing and sketching and had a love for art. She was an avid reader and always kept up with the news and current affairs. She will be remembered for her quiet nature, generosity and kindness to family and friends throughout her life. It was mom’s request that a formal service not be held. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Thank you to Dr. Zarkovic, Dr. Llewelyn-Williams and the numerous nurses and other health care professionals that assisted with mom’s care.
