I cannot believe Sam is not here any more. I met her in India and we became fast friends. Then we traveled together last year in Mexico and Texas. Even though I am much older than Sam we hit off marvelously and had such a good time together. I shall miss her a great deal; we were talking about a trip to Ireland. I am so glad that I spoke with her in March, but I am so sorry she is not here.
I know that she has found peace now.
My very best to you, her family, for I know how sad it is to lose Sam's smiling presence.

I found the prayer I was wanting to post. A lovely Jewish Prayer I discovered in a book called Earth Prayers.
At the rising of the sun and at its going down
We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and the chill of winter
We remember them.
At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring
We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer
We remember them.
At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn
We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends
We remember them.
When we are weary and in need of strength (how he had the strength to live to see you again)
We remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart
We remember them.
When we have joy we crave to share
We remember them. (and the joy they brought us)
When we have decisions that are difficult to make
We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live; for they are now a part of us,
as we remember them.

To all that knew Sandra,
I have so many things I have wanted to say, but the one thing that keeps on repeating in my mind is the last day that I saw her a few weeks ago.
We were saying our good byes and I read the saying that is engraved on one of my necklaces. It seemed fitting at the time to read this to her and now fitting to pass it along to her family and friends. These are not my words but they have inspired me and hope to comfort all of you. She lived life to the fullest and for that I will always admire her.
“May the sun bring you new energy by day, may the moon softly restore you by night, may the rain wash away your worries, may the breeze blow new strength into your being, may you walk gently through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life.”

I am privileged to have called Sam 'friend' for over 20 years. We worked first as competitors in Regina, and then later and co-workers and industry associates after moving to Calgary. It was also in Calgary that we shared many years singing together as members of Calgary Choral She was always interested in what was planned for the choir with which I now sing. Sam had a zest for life unlike anyone I've ever known. Her quest for adventure and passion for experiencing the world were as colorful as the e-mails that she sent to so many of us during her travels.
To her family I extend my most sincere condolences. May you forever wrap yourselves in the love and joy of her memories, as well as the compassion which those of us from afar now share with you. Thank you for offering the broadcast of the service today, allowing us to be there in witness as well as in thought.
She is forever an eternally free spirit. Peace Always, my friend.

Sam worked with me in Calgary when she joined Sundog before she left on her amazing travels. I admired her strength of character and positive approach to her work, friends and co- workers. She was a delight to have as part of our team because she brought dedication and commitment to work every day and made the day more enjoyable for those around her. She laughed often and seemed to have endless energy. It was my honor and pleasure to know Sam.
Sam was loved by many and will be missed by many.

I met Sam over 4 years ago when she house, cat-sat for me in San Miguel. I knew immediately that she was the one to care for my house and 3 cats during my extended absence. When I left I had 3 cats, on my return there were 4 cats thanks to Sam. She had rescued, adopted and named Boo, now a huge presence at well over 10 kilos. Sam also set up a rigorous gym program consisting of pilfered tequila cartons that she herded the hapless cats thru on my patio. She also ordered them out of the house at 7am, expecting the same discipline of herself.
Sam was a 'power walker,' I never knew anyone who could walk and sweat so tirelessly, she had energy and life to burn. Her creative and artistic talents were evident in her zany postcards and emails, full of colorful fonts and images. At my 70th Birthday Party, she presented me with a handmade cardboard tiara which
I will treasure always. Her sense of graphics and design were sublime. I miss her terribly already as do all her friends here.

Dear Sebastian family,
Sam and I were "paper" friends, meeting many years ago and staying friends even though miles have separated us. Sam was a vibrant, gleaming gem which her many friends cherished more than any queen's crown jewels. She made everyone feel that they had a special place in her heart. She made me laugh (often) and think ( deeply) about life. We often reference a color guide called Pantone in the paper/ print world that Sam called home for many years. I often associate Sam with the many colors represented there, especially the brightest turquoise. I will miss you deeply Sam.
With much love, Kelly Chrey

Sorry to hear of the news. I still remember meeting Sandra and Candace at a basketball game after school at Deshaye when I was in grade 3. She babysat my brother and sisters a couple of times when we lived on Garnet. I will cherish those memories as she was a grade 5 student who was involved in all school activities and set a good example to us, the younger schoolmates. My thoughts and prayers to all of the Sebastian family.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear this news. Sandra was a rep for I and others I work with decades ago and she never failed to meet every request we made of her, regardless of tight timelines, with an unparalleled mix of professionalism and care.
I remember her laugh the most and while many reps have come and gone since her, it says something that 20 years later she is the only one I remember who truly stood out to me.
My condolences to her family.

The sting of her loss is for now, unbearable. I pray that the stream of time run fast to help her family especially and we her friends to heal from our loss. For now, we just keep crying . . .
I thank her parents for raising such a loving, dynamic, capable, unique individual. She came into our San Miguel circle and we were all changed by her friendship. We shared many meals, many game nights and all of our houses and pets with Sam. When she left last summer, we looked forward to much, much more time with her . . . .
Though we are thousands of miles away, we join you all in praying Sam into her next adventure. Our doors here will always be open to her Saskatchewan family and all her world-wide friends.

I remember Sam saying we needed to take a photo of our feet on a trip to Guadalajara because she always took a photo of her foot/feet when she went traveling. Well this footprint reminds me of the positive one she left in my world and the world in general.
If you knew Sam, you will know hers is on the left - one of the pair she used for her many "power walks" with Joey.

May all beings be free from strife
May all beings return to love
Peace be with you forevermore.
Sam was an above and beyond vibrant/vivacious, honorable, helpful, kind, caring (of all beings), reliable, responsible, generous and trustworthy woman. I entrusted my dog and my casitas to her for 3 months here in San Miguel and what a fine job she did!!! Again - above and beyond. Joey wanted to follow her "home" when I returned. Enclosed is a photo of her and Joey - you can just feel the exchange of adoration. She was truly loved and will be truly missed and has returned to love and peace. Just found out this afternoon at choir practice and I am in shock. Sandra dived right into being part of the Amici Choir. I also knew Sandra through the Wannados. She had asked me to go to Calgary with her and really regret I didn't now. One of the most vibrant, friendly, lovely people I have ever met. I assumed we were going to have many more fun times together. Had just been to Fibber Magees together last weekend and curling and dancing a couple of weeks ago. So full of life, fun and friendly to everyone. I know how much she cared about her family. One of the last times we were together she was in a hurry to get to one of her nephew's games. She was eager to spend time with family again after all of her foreign adventures. I really admired her explorer spirit as travel is a passion of mine as well. Also was very impressed that she had already found arts groups to volunteer for. So dreadfully sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to all of her family.
My sympathies,

Dear Bernie and Alice,
Phyllis and I are deeply moved by the loss of your beautiful and charming daughter. We received a call from Israel yesterday morning from Rhonda who like us was truly mourning her loss. Just the other day I gave her a hug at German choir practice and was so pleased to share her embrace. Sandra always had the time to share her wonderful smile with her childhood neighbors and for this we will always love your daughter and miss her gifts that she so graciously gave.We feel like this is a loss of one of our own.

I met Sam in San Miguel de Allende several years ago when I was invited to 'crash' her birthday dinner at our Thai restaurant. Sam was lively and welcoming and I immediately fell in love with her. Thru our mutual friends we shared many warm and special times together. Sam stayed with me for a time and house sat as well my house and kitty. She was always singing, listening to music, making her granola and hummus, sharing stories of her travels and made everyone a better person for knowing and loving her. Her friend Maggie Sperling wishes to send special remembrances to the family and I will help Maggie to do this as Maggie is blind and loved Sam dearly.
Sam will be be missed and remembered in our little town, she was a rare life force, my thoughts go out to her loving family and friends in Canada.
