Obituary of John Paul Eberts

JOHN PAUL EBERTS John, late of Lumsden/Regina Beach, SK passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the age of 89 years. He was born in Holdfast, SK and lived there until his marriage to Sis, when they then moved to the farm on what is well known as Dundee Acres. John remained on the farm until December, 2013 at which time he moved to the Lumsden Manor. During his years, John became well recognized for his musical abilities and his zest for living and hard work. His greatest interest, which later became a hobby, was working with his horses. His ethic of hard work enabled him and Sis to build a successful farming operation from scratch. While working tirelessly at the farm, he also managed the Regina Beach Community Pasture and served many years as the trouble man for the phone company. John was a charter member of the Lumsden and District Lions Club, Lumsden Old time Rockers Hockey team, their musical band and the Qu’Appelle Valley Horse Pull Club. He was a leader in the Dundee 4-H Beef Club for many years, and also well known for the Harvest Extravaganza that drew crowds to Dundee Acres from all over the countryside. During his retirement he and Sis spent many a winter in Mesa, Arizona, where John was a keen organizer of the Can-Ams slow pitch team and all the socialization that went with it. John received many awards for his volunteer and work achievements. John is survived by son Ron Eberts, Calgary; daughter Marilyn Wickenheiser (Tom), Calgary; son Gordon Eberts, Regina Beach; son Leonard Eberts (Rhonda), Provost; daughter-in-law Jeannette Eberts, Craven; son Johnny Eberts Jr (Susan), Regina Beach; dear friend and companion Donna Whitta, Lumsden; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters Lizzy Geiss and Rosemarie Hubich both of Regina; sister-in-law Josie Ackerman, Regina, brother-in-law Al Frohlich, Lethbridge; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
