Obituary of Doreen Ruth Fortner

Doreen Fortner (Kirichenko) June 19, 1950 - April 23, 2015 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Doreen after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Doreen is survived by her husband Dennis "Denny", her children Tina, Rick (Stacey), and Dennis (Lisa). Grandchildren Amanda, Jessica, Haley, Zoey, Owen, Tyler, Ashley, Samantha, Kylie and great-granddaughter Alice on the way. Brothers and sisters Shirley (Wayne), John (Rose), Beatrice, Bob (Geraldine) and Sharon. Sister and brother-in-law Darlene and Dennis McKay also numerous nieces, nephews and very special friend Jacquie McDonald. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Vivian Kirichenko and daughter Annette Fortner. Doreen had many interests but her most passionate ones were collecting Coke-Cola and rider items. Doreen had a few jobs in her lifetime, Sasktel, Sears, Regina Shopper and up until her retirement at the Leader-Post in the distribution department, where she had many friends that were close to her heart. But her greatest accomplishment was taking care of the family, doing the very best any mother could do along the way. A come and go Celebration of Doreen's Life will be held at the Kronau Curling Club, Main Street, Kronau on Saturday May 2, between 1-4 p.m. A private family burial of Doreen's ashes will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre for the care Mom received while fighting her illness. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in memory of Doreen to the Canadian Cancer Society.
