Obituary of Helen Elizabeth Nixon

Surrounded by family and after a courageous battle with cancer, Helen passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK at the age of 75 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Amalia and Adam Knapp, older brother, Jake Knapp and sister and brother in-law Mary and Frank Gellner. Helen is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert Nixon; their five children and spouses: Keith (Shelley) Nixon of Regina, SK, Cindy (Jim) Focht of Sintaluta, SK, Jack (Jody) Nixon of Winnipeg, MB, Robert (Debbie) Nixon of Southey, SK, and Connie (Byron) Fuessel of Southey, SK. She had a special affection for her 13 grandchildren, Allie Nixon, Trevor Focht, Cara Focht, Erica Focht, Adam Nixon, Samantha Nixon, Devon Nixon, Christopher Nixon, Shawn Nixon, Julia Nixon, Lora Fuessel, Emily Fuessel, and Danielle Fuessel; brother, Rudolph Knapp, sister, Sophie Schaffer and sister in-law, Erna Knapp. Helen’s most enjoyable moments included when family would get together and sing around the piano in her music room. She was a long time music teacher, who shared her love of music with many students whom she greatly cherished. Helen was a dedicated faithful church organist for over 60 years. A Memorial Service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Southey, SK, on Saturday, May 9, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Lowell Dennis, officiating. Interment to follow at North Southey Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
