Obituary of Sister Anastasia Young, S.S.S.

Sister Anastasia, a Sister of Social Service in her 71st year of life, peacefully returned to God on May 1, 2015. Sister Anastasia will be lovingly remembered by her religious community and her family; Doreen, Richard (Linda), Clarence (Evelyn), Ken (Nancy), Geri (Bruce) and Phyllis (Mike) as well as her aunts and uncles, numerous nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues. Sister Anastasia was the former Spiritual Program Director of the Archdiocese of Regina. A position she held for nine years. Her other ministries included Retreat Director for Holy Spirit Center, Pastoral Assistant at St. Teresa’s Parish in Toronto, and Retreat Associate at Villa Madonna Retreat Centre. She also was involved in Christian Meditation and participated on numerous committees. She loved music and liturgy and could play a variety of instruments. She lived out her motto: “Forever I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord”. Visitation will be held at St. Peter’s Church, 100 Argyle St, Regina, SK. on May 4, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with Prayers at 8:00 p.m. and on May 5, 2015 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. before Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Church, on May 5, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. The Interment will take place at Regina Memorial Gardens, 4280 Hwy. #1 East, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of Social Service, 500 Huron Street, Toronto, Ontario, M5R 2R3 to assist in their ministries or to the William Booth Grace Hospice, 50 Angus Road, Regina, SK. S4R 8P6 . The Sisters of Social Service wish to express their utmost appreciation and gratitude to Marjorie Wasyliw, Dr. M. Zarkovic, Dr. D.B. Mbanza and the staff at William Booth Grace Hospice Palliative Unit who provided such loving care for her.
