Obituary of Lillian Christina Dacey

LILLIAN CHRISTINA DACEY Lillian Christina Dacey (née Gordon) of Regina, SK passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the age of 92 years. Lillian was predeceased by her parents, Emmanuel and Mary Gordon; son Richard, four sisters and five brothers. Lillian is survived by her loving and caring husband of 71 years, Harvey; daughter Lynn Pryshlak of Regina, SK; daughter-in-law Kaylee Dacey of Calgary, AB; son Garth (Joanne) of Estevan, SK; son Tim (Karen) of Regina, SK; nine grandchildren, Angie Dyck, Mike Pryshlak (Sherrianne Uliski), Cheryl (Glen) Mumby, Chrissy (Dave)Porter, Cathy (Chris) Schilman, Pamela (Tim) Roach, Matthew Dacey; Jessica (Nick) Mah, Curtis Dacey; four great-grandchildren, Greg Dyck, Sarah Mumby, Nathan Mumby and Madelyn Mah; sisters, Kay, Trudy, Charlotte; brother Ron; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lillian was the second born of fourteen children. She attended Sacred Heart School and Sacred Heart Academy. Lillian married her soulmate Harvey in 1944. When Harvey went off to war, Lillian worked as a comptometer operator at Simpsons and Sears. Upon Harvey’s return, they raised their four children. Lillian continued to work at the fabric department at Woolco and was employed at Laura Secord. Lillian was an active member of the church and CWL and was a devoted volunteer at Santa Maria Senior Citizen Home. She enjoyed singing in the choir at Sacred Heart Parish and at St. Martin de Porres Parish. Lillian enjoyed playing cards especially bridge and cribbage. Lillian was an avid gardener and baker. She will forever be remembered for her delicious buns and cinnamon buns. Harvey and Lillian were fortunate to travel to Arizona for eight years of their retirement, making many new friends and memories. Lillian suffered with dementia the last few years of her life and is now at peace in body and mind. Many thanks to the staff at D’Silva, Brightwater & Santa Maria Senior Home. We would especially like to thank nurses Noor, Susan and Palvi for their wonderful care of Lillian and kindness they showed to her family during Lillian’s stay at Santa Maria. Lillian you will be thought of often and missed dearly. A Celebration of Lillian’s Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Lillian to the Santa Maria Foundation, 4215 Regina Avenue, Regina, SK, S4S 0J5 or the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
