Obituary of Al Porter

March 17, 1933 – May 27, 2015 It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on May 27, 2015 at the age of 82 years. Al was born in Rhein, Saskatchewan on March 17, 1933 and resided in Yorkton and then Regina. Predeceased by his parents Nora and Fred and his brother John, Al is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dolores; three children, Leslie of Calgary, Denise and Dave (Diana) of Regina. He was very proud of his five grandchildren, Kyle, Lindsey, Kelsey, Sophia and Nicholas. He is also survived by one sister Eva (Terry) of Toronto; two sisters-in-law; several brothers-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews. Al was very passionate and dedicated to helping others through his company Porter Property Management. Looking after their needs was very important to him. He enjoyed his work so much that he only retired at age 73. After his retirement, Al and Dolores spent many holidays in Europe and Hawaii. He loved family vacations such as house boating in northern Saskatchewan, an Alaskan cruise and many trips to the mountains. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, on Monday June 1, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King R.C. Church, 3239 Garnet Street, on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
