Obituary of Katharina "Katie" Doerner

Katie passed away in her sleep on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the age of 87. She was born the second of four children to Anna (Fuderer) and Nikolaus Pfeiffer in Andrijaševci, Croatia on November 7, 1927. During the war her family was displaced to Linz, Austria. It was there she met Mathias Doerner and they were married in May of 1950. Four years later, they, along with their first child Monica immigrated to Canada settling in Saskatoon. In 1958 their second daughter, Erna was born. They lived in Saskatoon until 2006, when they moved to Regina. Katie will be remembered for the joy she took in family gatherings, pride in her grandchildren and her thoughtfulness towards all those around her. Katie loved her flower bed as well as her garden and graciously shared flowers and vegetables with friends. Her delicious Mocha and Black Forrest Tortes will not be easily forgotten. She enjoyed making and giving her crafts and brightened many a day in doing so. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Monica (Gilbert) Ferré of Zenon Park and Erna (Gerard) Woynarski of Regina; grandchildren Aimée Stang (Sheldon); Nicolas Ferré (Marisa); Rosemarie Gelsinger (Trevor); Alicia Woynarski (Nathan); Adam Woynarski and Evan Woynarski; great grandchildren, Jakob and Alexandre Gelsinger and Tristan Stang; one sister, Mary Yaki; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Nikolaus and Anna Pfeiffer, her husband Mathias Doerner, and her two brothers, Frank and Johann Pfeiffer. Funeral Service will be held at Faith Baptist Church, 437 Broadway Avenue East, Regina on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Darold Sauer officiating.
