Fern O'Byrne

Obituary of Fern Lucille O'Byrne

April 21, 1936 – June 8, 2015 The morning after Ron, her husband of sixty years, passed away, Fern left us to join him. Fern is predeceased by her parents, Clara and Ferdinand Kriekle, her brother Delmont, and her sister Joan, and is survived by her children, grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. Fern was born in Markinch, Sk, where she attended grade school until her family moved into the Crescents area of Regina. She completed grade school at Holy Rosary School, and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1953. Although she worked outside the home from time to time, home and family were most important to Fern. She remembered everything that everyone liked best. Selfless and supportive, she preferred to let the spotlight shine on her family. Her children learned that she was always there for them, participating in their lives and watching over them – from jam sandwiches after school to snowmobiling and camping trips to pets of every kind. She taught her children that all life was special, even the earthworms she found on the sidewalk after a rain and put back into the grass. Ron and Fern will be forever missed by their daughters Catherine (Howard, Rigel); Karen (Owen, Joel, Dale); Jackie (Blair, Kim, Daryn); and son Rod (JM, Kelsey, Lauren). A Funeral mass, followed by reception and tea, will be held at 11:00 am on June 25, 2015 at St. Anne’s Parish, 1701 Cowan Crescent, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Souls Harbour RESCUE Mission, Regina
