Obituary of Betty LuLu Barber

BETTY L. BARBER April 23, 1932 – June 11, 2015 Betty passed away peacefully with family by her side following a courageous battle with Cancer and Dementia. Betty is predeceased by her parents, John and Lula McGillivray; husband Gerald; and older sisters, Norma and Gladys. Betty is survived by her four children, Allan (Ellen) of Regina, Daniel (Carol) of Regina, Carol (Lyle) Archibald of Nanaimo BC, and Michael (Bev) of Melville; brother Allan; sisters, Alice, Irene and Dona; five grandchildren, Jesse, Lisa, Allison, Shannon, and Christine; four great grandchildren, James, Evan, Benjamin, and Victoria; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Betty was born and raised in Central Butte, Saskatchewan. After graduation from the Davidson Business College in 1951, Betty met and married Gerald, and began raising their family. In 1966, Betty began a 31 year career with the Regina Catholic School Board, before retiring in 1997. Betty loved music and was a gifted piano player. She was always very proud of her membership in the Sweet Adelines Singing Chorus and enjoyed the company of the many friends she made there. The family extends a special thank you to Doctor Kothare and to the management and staff of the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Mutchmor Lodge and Regina Pioneer Village for their compassionate care of Mom during her illness. To honour and memorialize Betty, a Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina SK on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a luncheon. A private family interment will be held at Riverside Memorial Park at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined.
