Obituary of Elaine Grace Gutfriend

ELAINE GRACE GUTFRIEND née GARLING Elaine Grace Gutfriend (née Garling) passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the age of 73 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Charley and Henrietta Garling; and siblings, Bessie, Tillie, Bud, Bill and Gene. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 53 years, Richard “Dick”; son Malcolm; daughter Sharon (Tim); grandsons, Dustin and Tyler; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Elaine was born and grew up in the Weyburn area where she met Dick, the love of her life, marrying him in 1961. Following the birth of her children, she started working at the Saskatchewan Hospital, where she remained until her retirement in 2000. Elaine was an active member of the community in both Weyburn and Regina and especially enjoyed her activities in the Order of the Royal Purple, where she served as Honoured Royal Lady and District Deputy and more recently her activities with the Shriners. Elaine loved life, warmly embracing everyone she met and enjoyed visiting with friends and family. Most of all she loved celebrating special occasion with her family. Any memories of Elaine wouldn’t be complete without remembering her passion for both the Riders and the Blue Jays. She will be deeply and greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Elaine may be made to the Shriners Hospital Canada. Donation cards will be available at the service.
