Obituary of Josephine Burkhart

Josephine of Holdfast, Saskatchewan passed away on July 2, 2015 at the Lumsden District and Heritage Home in Lumsden, Saskatchewan after a valiant journey with multiple health challenges. Josephine was predeceased by her husband Gabriel Burkhart, father Walter Bank, mother Francis Bank, stepmother Rosa (Bank) Langelier, brothers Stanley Bank and Joe Bank, sister Florence Bank, and daughter-in-law Marlene Burkhart (nee Roberston). As a loving mother, grandmother and friend she will be sorely missed by her son Bryan Burkhart of Holdfast; daughters Lorraine (Lloyd) Chypiska of Regina, Loretta Bast of Regina, Sharon (Lloyd) Spencer of Saskatoon, and Shelly (Marvin) Smith of Calgary; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren Cory (Rena) Bast of Toronto, Kyla (Brad) Herauf (Levi and Jesse) of Regina, Michael Spencer (Ethan and Jose) of Regina, Kyle (Shaylee) Spencer of Warman, Stacey (Jason) Burkhart (Bennett) of Regina and Amy (Joey) Deck (Presley) of Regina. Josephine is also survived by her brothers Frank Bank of Glenavon and Allan Bank (Ethel) of Calgary; sisters Victoria Ell of Moose Jaw and Veronica (Gus) Berjion of Assiniboia; stepbrothers Gabe (Denise) Bank of Regina, Bernie (Leanne) Bank of Regina, Andrew Bank of Regina; and stepsister Joan Konechny of Edmonton. Josephine was born and raised in Glenavon, and after her marriage to Gabriel they resided in Holdfast. She was the assistant librarian at the Holdfast Palliser Regional Library and retired from this position after twenty years of service. Josephine's richest treasure was her time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren; their spontaneity, zest for life, laughter and love were her cherished gifts. A Celebration of Josephine’s Life will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 2026 Winnipeg Street, Regina, SK on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Vitalis Azike officiating. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Regina. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. ...On the wings of a white dove I will set you free...
