Chuck and I were so saddened to learn today of Don's passing.
I wondered why I was unable to get him off my mind the past few days and thought I must drop by your new business location and pop in and say hi. - now I know why.
For 12 years Don was in our life weekly as our landlord. He was very good to us and we appreciated his kindness.
We enjoyed many a story and many a laugh. He was so proud of Nancy and his family and often spoke of all of you.
May God comfort you,
with our deepest sympathy
Arlene and Chuck

Hello Nancy:
I was saddened to hear of Don's passing. Don was very special to me and I always attribute him to achieving my success in education and business. While working for Don at the Qu Appelle Apartments, he supported me in my studies and allowed me the flexibility to attend class, I will always be grateful to him. I often drive by the building and many fond memories come to mind of the times we spent together, he really cherished that building.
One could describe Don as a growly bear with a huge heart. You always knew where you stood with Don and he would be angry with you at one point, but he never lingered on it, said his piece and moved on without carrying a grudge. I remember his conversations about his family and their achievements, he was so proud. I learned a lot from Don on matters of business but more importantly his commitment to life and the people close to him. He understood the meaning of balance in life and what was important to him. Although he was extremely successful in business, I believe that was not Don's motivation it was leaving a legacy for his family, that they would be cared for.
Like Don, I still run marathons, and I will miss seeing him at the finish line cheering on the runners, or while running on Albert Street, that distinctive sound from the horn of Don's trademark, that big black BMW, with his dad's licence plate number so proudly displayed, 172 I believe.
Although he will be greatly missed, I take comfort in knowing that he was active up to his passing. Don was not the type to linger, in living and in death, he instinctively knew when it was time to go.
With Warm Regards
Frank

Dear Nancy, Gord, Rhonda, Doug and family. We are so saddened to know that Don has passed away. The two of us have such fond memories of our encounters with him on the various paths throughout Wascana park. He always had an observation or a chuckle to share with us.
We were fortunate to have made that wonderful friendship in the park.
Our thoughts are with you.

Dear Nancy and family.
Can't imagine life without the patriach DK in it. As you know Nancy we were very shocked to hear the news as we didn't know he was in hospital.
You have such a wonderful extended family and we feel so,badly we won't be there to tell them in person how sad we are for you all.
Nancy we will be in touch next week but in the meantime we send our deepest sympathy to you all.
With our love. Lois and Hugh

My dad was a quiet guy and wasn't a storyteller so I always enjoyed going to the Hipperson household to hear Mr. H's stories about their "misspent" youth. Dandy Don and Tricky Vickie are now up there getting into mischief.
