Obituary of George Henry Phaneuf

1927 - 2015 George was born June 3, 1927 in Lafleche, Saskatchewan. He passed peacefully at home in Regina, SK on August 1, 2015. By his side were his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Irene (Czernick), his children and their spouses. George married Irene on July 4, 1949. They raised their four children in Lafleche where he co-owned and worked at Phaneuf’s Locker Plant. In 1974 he and Irene moved to Regina where he worked as an accountant with PFRA until his retirement in 1992. George will be fondly remembered by his wife Irene; daughters Anna (Dale) Ollenberger and Joan (Gordon) Myers; sons Raymond (Joanne nee Lachowitzer) and Martin; his grandchildren Shawna (Cory), Melissa, Jim, Bryan (Niki), Jarod, Christopher (Deanna), Gregory and Tyler; his great grandchildren Addison, Reese, Avery, Hanna, Abby, Daniel, Kenton, Alexis, Rossi, Reid and Nathan. Also, left to mourn is his sister Delores Lambert; sisters-in-law Connie Phaneuf and Esther Phaneuf along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Gilbert and Rita; brothers Adrien and Leo; sister Estelle DeCap; brothers-in-law André Lambert and Marcel DeCap; grandson Joseph Myers and great granddaughter Cassidy Gibson. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Jose Periyilkatte at Holy Cross Parish, 315 Douglas Avenue East, Regina SK. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Ste. Radegonde cemetery, Lafleche, Sask. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of George to Palliative Care, Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK., S4T 1A5 or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
