Obituary of Cynthia Ruth Crighton

CYNTHIA RUTH CRIGHTON Cynthia Ruth Crighton, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the age of 85 years. Predeceased by her parents, Henry and Edith Brinkworth; husband Jim Crighton; brother James Brinkworth; grandson Grahame Scott; and niece Sharon Jasper. Cynthia is survived by daughter Sandy Crighton (Doug Scott) and their daughter Stephanie Scott (Jon Stack); daughter Janice Crighton (Dan Bourgeois) and their children, Renee and Zacharie Bourgeois; sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Cynthia was born in Regina and attended Connaught Elementary and Balfour Tech. Growing up Cynthia was a bit of a tom boy and enjoyed playing many sports. After graduating she worked for Regina City Light and Power. Mom was always a sharp dresser and Grandpa always said that every pay cheque she received went to buy new clothes. On December 17, 1958, Cynthia married the love of her life, Jim Crighton. They raised two daughters in Regina, Edmonton and Saskatoon before returning to Regina. No matter where we lived Mom and Dad were big Rider Fans. For many years mom worked from home as a secretary for our father’s insurance agency. She spent many hours taking us to activities and coaching us in sports. Upon returning to Saskatchewan, Mom worked for various private businesses and retired from the Regina Flying Club. Cynthia and Jim loved to entertain and travel. Cynthia was known for her cheery personality and her larger than life laugh. You always knew where she was in a crowd. We will miss her positive attitude and her laugh. Cynthia and Jim were married just short of 50 years when Dad passed away in 2008. Due to health issues, Cynthia moved to Gardiner Point Personal Care Home. She resided there where all of the staff treated her like family until her passing. Her positive attitude helped through many health issues in the last few years. The family would like to thank the staff at Gardiner Point Care Home for taking such great care of her. We would also like to thank Drs Kuzmicz, Luu, Valquez and Johnson and all of the nurses at the Pasqua Hospital. A private family interment is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grahame Scott Memorial Trust, Donor & Alumni Relations, Saskatchewan Polytechnic Saskatoon Campus, Box 1520 Saskatoon, SK, S7K 3R5 or a charity of your choice.
