Obituary of Steve Gyurek

Steve Gyurek of Regina, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents Steve Gyurek and Jenny (Stadnyk) Baker; brother Zeno; brothers-in-law Keith McCoy, George Yaworski, Alphonso Haider and Jim Solomon and parents in-law Martin and Johanna Haider. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Frances (Haider); his daughters, Lynn (Pat) Lee, Wendy Taylor, Sharon (Clayton) Thom, Sheila (Jimmy) Unique, Brenda (Gary) Colibaba and one son Mark (Carla). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; brothers Sam (Shirley) and Billy (Olga); sisters Kay Yaworski, Ella McCoy and Jenny Rudd; sisters-in-law Paulette Gyurek, Grace Solomon, Evelyn Haider, Linda (Ken) Rebalkin, Joanne Pomazon (Guy Kirshner), Paulette (Ian) Bulmer, Corine (Don) Pindas; brother in-law Harold (Della) Haider and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was born and raised in Choiceland, SK. and moved to Regina in 1951 where he worked in the construction industry, Motorways and until his retirement, was employed at QSI Interiors. Steve was an avid gardener and enjoyed his home life surrounded by his family, playing cards, fishing and watching sports on TV. We would like to thank the staff of Wascana Rehab for their compassionate and loving care of Steve during these past two years after he suffered a stroke in October 2013. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK., on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at Little Flower Parish, 420 College Avenue, Regina, SK., on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jose Thomas Periyilkatte officiating. Interment will follow in Regina Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, 2180 – 23rd Avenue, Regina, SK., S4S 0A5.
