Obituary of Edward Walek

EDWARD WALEK Edward Walek, dearly beloved husband of Wanda Walek and cherished father of Elizabeth Walek, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the age of 91 years. Edward was predeceased by his parents, Franciszek and Johanna Walek; brothers, Stefan and Franciszek Walek in Poland; sister Genowefa Janus and half-brother Boleslaw Pelan in Great Britain. He is survived by his wife Wanda (née Perog); daughter Elizabeth; and numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was born in Dzwonowice, Poland and was a barber close to 40 years. He had his own business at 1861 Broad Street for many of those years. Edward was a people person who loved his work and enjoyed his customers. He also loved to garden and read World War II history. Edward, we your family will never forget you. You were a loving and caring husband and person and the best dad anyone could have. You remain in our hearts and we love you and miss you dearly. Prayers will be at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, 2275 Atkinson Street, on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Marian Ogorek officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park to follow. The family wishes to say a huge thank you to the caring and very kind doctors and nurses of Unit 5F at the Regina General Hospital and to Dad’s angels of the Regina Qu’Appelle Home Care staff.
