Obituary of Wyn Lilburn

WYN (WINNIFRED) LILBURN AUGUST 30, 1919 – OCTOBER 16, 2015 Wyn (Winnifred) Lilburn was born August 30, 1919 on the family farm at Gooseberry Lake, north of Creelman, Saskatchewan. Her father, John Blaylock, one of the first farmers in the area, broke the land in 1905. Her mother, Florence Densley Blaylock, was a governess in Boston, Mass. USA, when she met her future husband in 1909. Wyn served in the RCAF during WW II as a parachute packer and inspector and married Walter in 1945, after his five years of service in Europe. She was predeceased by her husband Walter; her mother and father; her sisters, Doris, Agnes, Marjory and Evelyn and her brother Jack(John). She is survived by her two sons Tim (Helen) and Greg (Bernie Koltun); grandchildren Jay(Halli) Lilburn, Kaly(Andy) Court, Nikola(Sean) Larsen, Irish(Karley) Lilburn and Lexa (Tyler Sloot) and great-grandchildren Iarnan, Eartha and Kaiohme Lilburn, Otto and Atlas Court, Cedar and Cohen Larsen and Marshall, Paisley, Benson and Oakley Lilburn. Wyn was a generous, kind and enthusiastic spirit. While living in Regina, she was a devoted mother and wife. She swam, painted in oils, walked, square danced and enjoyed her family life. Later she loved to visit with her grandkids or participate in family holidays from Banff to Alaska to Disneyland. She worked at the Nut House, D'Allards, Dorothy Gould's, Sears and Pinder's Drug Store and Post Office. Very active in her Rosemont United Church community and First Baptist congregation, she made many lifelong friends. Her yard and garden were her delight and she loved being outside, hosting BBQ's and picnics, picking saskatoons and going to the beach. Many good times were had with neighbors in Regina with get-togethers in times of joy and sorrow. Wyn volunteered at Wascana Centre teaching Adeline Nostad who was quadriplegic, to paint by mouth. This friendship as well as those of her loving nieces and nephews were precious to her. Ill health precipitated her move to High River in 2008 to be with family where she passed away peacefully on October 13, 2015. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of the Long Term Care Unit, High River Hospital, for their years of gentle, loving care for their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 2241 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday October 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
