Obituary of Anna Magdalena Wendel

Anne passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, just four days before her 102nd birthday. Anne was born in Regina, but lived in Mawer, SK until 1940. She had eight siblings – Paul, John, Mary, Edward, Lorne, Harold, Eleanor and Ernie. She attended Normal School in Regina and taught in the Central Butte area until 1940. Anne married Henry Wendel on October 17, 1940 and moved back to Regina. They were married for 54 years and had one son, Dennis, who later married Leslie. Anne returned to the workforce in 1957, working for Kern Farm Equipment as an accounting clerk, and then for the Canada Manpower and Immigration as a clerk in Human Resources until retiring in 1975. Anne enjoyed her retirement years, travelling to Las Vegas, California, Hawaii, P.E.I. and Pennsylvania to visit family. Anne’s most cherished hobby was reading. She also enjoyed needlepoint, and made wonderful pictures for her family. Anne was predeceased by her husband Henry; parents, Paul and Barbara Harle; brothers, John, Paul, Edward and Harold. She is survived by son Dennis (Leslie); siblings, Mary (Dean) Adams, Eleanor Harle, Ernie Harle, Lorne (Dorothy) Harle; as well as eighteen nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their thanks for the loving care provided by the staff of Precious Memories Care Home. The Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. K. Koep, officiating.
