Hi, I looked up Ross on the internet recently hoping to reconnect with him, as he was both my friend and teacher while I was at Kelsey Institute many years ago. After that, I worked for Water Survey of Canada during which time I kept in touch with Ross and shared several laughs with him. We had unfortunately lost contact with each other and I was trying to reconnect with him when I learned of his passing. I am so sorry to learn of this. I know you will miss him tremendously. He was a wonderful fellow and instructor and he made a big difference in my life while I was at Kelsey. I am truly sorry for your loss.

We heard the sad news via people in the Regina Environment Canada
office, where we first met Ross. Always helpful and kind, Ross was the
sort of person that you can easily say that we're glad he was part of
our life, even if only for a short while.
David got to know him due to the geography/weather/hydrology interests,
while David was working at the EC Bratt's Lake research site south of
Regina starting in 1999. Michele started a job in the Regina EC office
in 2004, and got to know Ross directly as a co-worker and colleague.
After Ross's retirement, David continued to cross paths with Ross on the
golf course (in more ways than one). We enjoyed the stories of "Gummer
Hill" and Ross's easy-going nature. Ross would also appear at various EC
functions as part of the growing retiree group that maintained social
contacts with the Regina office.
We moved to Ontario in 2012/13, but Ross will always be a good memory of
our time in Regina. We offer our condolences to Ross's family and
friends.

Dear Dale and Family,
Ed and I send our love and sincerest condolences at the sudden loss of Ross. I was able to reminisce with Lesley this past weekend about some of the times that she and I spent together with both you and Ross in the early days and Ed remembers many geography classes and coffee with Ross at the U of M. This was far too soon for a beloved husband, brother, dad, and grandfather to leave his family. We love you and will keep you all close to our hearts as you celebrate a too short life but so well lived.

Ross will be sorely missed!! We've been rocked over here, in Perth, Australia, by this news. He has been taken many years before his time! Cameron in particular, as his nephew, has just loved sharing news and laughs with his Uncle Ross over the years. Mostly by letters and then by emails, of course, given the distance. But thankfully Ross has been an outstanding correspondent ever since our little family first went to Australia in 1979. We send all our love and condolences to Dale, Carolyn, Paul, Evan and Matthew...

I had the good fortune to work with Ross on a number of architectural heritage research projects. He was meticulous, insightful and brought a tremendous enthusiasm to the research projects he tackled. We share a lot of laughs too! He had a wonderful sense of humour.
Ross was also a very caring family man and often talked of family members' accomplishments as well as the love of his life, Dale.
Best wishes to the Herrington family in this time of grieving.

I extend sincere condolences to Ross' family on his passing. Ross and I met while he was taking a course for his MSc program in 1977, while I was also doing the same. I remember well his friendly and gentle demeanor, and can only imagine that he would have been a kind soul to the students that he was teaching at the time. May your many fond memories of Ross be of considerable solace to you at this very sad time in your lives.
With sympathy,
