Obituary of Joseph 'Joe' Sebastian

JOSEPH SEBASTIAN October 21, 1915 – October 19, 2015 Joseph passed away peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the age of 99 years, just 2 days short of his “100th” Birthday. He was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Mary (Wild) Sebastian, brothers Fr. Carlos Sebastian O.F.M., Fr. Adam Sebastian O.F.M., Frank Sebastian; his sister, Mary Schatz and her husband Frank Schatz; and Fred Hunter, nephew-in-law. Joe is survived by his sister, Sister Magdalena Sebastian (Ursuline Sisters, Chatham, ON), brothers, Father Anthony Sebastian O.F.M., (Victoria, BC), Ignatius (Mary) Sebastian and sister-in-law, Antoinette “Toni” Sebastian. “Uncle Joe” will always hold a special place in the hearts of his 13 nieces and nephews and their children: Tony (Debbie) Sebastian and their family Alison (Robbie) Bradish and their family Colby and Clara, Leanne (Brent) Barnes and their son Brady, Greg (Valerie) Sebastian and their family Shayne Sebastian (Sheena), Shaylee Sebastian (Tim Davies) and their daughter Hazel, Erin Sebastian, Mark Sebastian, Kevin (Yvonne) Sebastian (Santa Fe, New Mexico), Joan (Gordon) Russell (Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia), Rod (Carol) Sebastian (Sherwood Park, AB) and their son Matthew Sebastian (Zoe) (Halifax, Nova Scotia), Maureen (Mike) Lang and their family Randy Lang (Qingdao, China), Chantelle (Brian) Kuntz and their daughter Brooklyn, Stephanie Lang, Paul (Ildi) Sebastian (Rabat, Morocco), Rose (Barry) Zimmer and their family Jody (Josee) Hunter (St. Anne, MB) and their children Zoe, Emma and Allie, Paige Hunter, Jenna Zimmer, Carol Sebastian, Daryl Sebastian, Anthony (Ruth) Schatz (Blairmore, AB) and their family Steven and Samantha, James (Anne) Schatz (Carlton Place, ON) and their family Chloe and Daniel, David (Shannon) Schatz (Calgary, AB) and their family Katelyn and Jake. Joe was a very active member of the Kendal community. He served many years on the Silver Valley School Board, as a Municipal Councillor, and as a Board member of the Dandy Rose Telephone Company. He was a parish trustee, and the presiding Knights of Columbus Deputy Grand Knight, when the Kendal Sub-Council No. 6381 was formed. He gave generously of his time and talents, especially as a Knight. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Santa Maria Chapel, 4215 Regina Ave., Regina, Sask., on Monday, October 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Msgr. Kenneth Miller presiding. Interment will follow at the Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery.
