Obituary of Nellie Caroline Robertson

NELLIE CAROLINE ROBERTSON (née Bielby) 1920 – 2015 Nellie, formerly of Bethune/Dilke area, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Nellie was predeceased by her parents Emma and William Bielby; her brother George (Helen) Bielby; her sisters Anne (Lou) Griffin, Kaye (Ed) Bradley and Phyl (Rusty) Broatch and her husband Jack in 1995. She is survived by her three children, Keith, Ron (Marlene) and Dawn Robertson; five grandchildren, Devin (Jen), Craig (Deanne), Natalie Robertson, Jillian and Connor Neufeld; five great-grandchildren, Carsen, Brady, Cale, Lane, Bransen, Robertson; four nephews and nieces and a number of great and great-great nephews and nieces. Nell was born November 30, 1920 and raised in Kelso SK, the youngest of five children. After completing her schooling in Kelso, she continued her education in Regina where she trained to become a teacher. On July 12, 1948 she married Jack at the home of her parents, (Mr. & Mrs. Bielby) at Kelso Sask. Jack and Nell lived on the farm in the Dilke area near Grand View Beach for the next 35 years, raising two sons and one daughter. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed her fresh garden vegetables (especially tomatoes) and the variety of flowers she grew. Nell supported the United Church in both Dilke and Bethune. When the Dilke curling rink opened she joined immediately and was prominent in the curling circles and bonspiels in Saskatchewan. Nell always attended the Shiners functions with Jack and enjoyed the travel experience that the trips imparted. When Jack passed away in 1995, Nell moved to Bethune, taking up residence in one of the Bethune senior citizen apts. She enjoyed her 13 years there immensely. In 2008 she moved to Wintergreene Estates where she resided until her passing. Nell passed away in the Pasqua Hospital after a short illness on October 20, 2015 at the age of 94 years. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. There will be a Memorial Service held at the Bethune Community Hall on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Dilke cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined.
