Martin Heise

Obituary of Martin Heise

It is with great sadness that we announce Martin’s passing on November 9, 2015 at the age of 96 years. Martin was predeceased by son Kenny; parents Martin and Lydia; five brothers and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Pauline; sons Roderick (Janice) and Randolph (June); daughter Lynne Berry (Gene) and son Bruce; grandchildren Sarah, Shaun, Kent, Tyler, Laura, Jeanine, Mark and Shannon; great grandchildren Jaden, Rylan, Caelan, Haiden, Aidan and Ava. Martin was born on the family farm near Bruno on May 6, 1919. In 1947 he met Pauline Anheliger and they married the next year. They raised a family of five in Colfax, SK, where Martin was employed by the Federal Grain Company. They were active in the community, made numerous friends and enjoy many fond memories. In 1967 the family was devastated by the loss of son and brother Kenny. In December, 1972 Martin, Pauline and Bruce moved to Summerberry, SK where Martin was employed by the Wheat Pool. They quickly adapted and many more lifelong friendships were made. In 1981 they moved to Regina. Martin commuted to work at the elevator in Zehner until his retirement in 1984. In retirement they enjoyed many happy times with family and friends and particularly enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren. A number of tours were taken with family and friends throughout North America as well as automobile trips to visit family in Alberta and B.C. In later years Martin and Pauline moved to the Atrium condo building in south Regina. Recently they moved to the Victoria Park Personal Care Home where Martin received excellent care from the wonderful staff. As his health failed over the past few years, Martin’s primary concern was living out his remaining days with Pauline, the love of his life. He was able to achieve this spending his last night in his own bed. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Friday November 13, 2015 at 3:30 pm. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers gratefully declined. Those so wishing may make memorial donations in Martin’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R3.
