Obituary of Alvera Jane Wolf

Alvera Jane Wolf Alvera, aged 83, passed away peacefully December 4th, 2015, in Regina, SK. She was born on May 24th, 1932, in the township of Boone, located in Franklin County, Missouri, USA. In 1953 she married Daniel Mironuck, after which they began their life-journey together on Danny’s farm. The farm was situated near Craven Saskatchewan. Seven years later, they sold the farm and decided to take up “city living” in Regina. Soon after, Danny built a new house and together they launched a small business – a childcare centre. By 1963, Alvera’s life was a dream come true; she had a loving husband, three young children, a new home and a new family business in the eastern suburbs of Regina. However, during July of that year, Alvera’s life was shattered when Danny died. Determined to make the best of a bad situation, Alvera picked up the pieces of her life. She remained in Regina, where she had support from Danny’s family and their church family. She stuck with her business and eventually built it into one of the largest and most successful childcare centres in Saskatchewan. In 1972, Alvera – or “Auntie Jane” as she was affectionately known as by hundreds and hundreds of children that she cared for over the years – was appointed by the Saskatchewan Government to the first Child Care Advisory Board. In 1994 she received a Lifetime Membership Award from the Saskatchewan Child Care Association, of which she was a founding member. Alvera, the founder and Director of Child Care Centre Co-operative remained with the organization until her retirement in 1998. Alvera always gave God the glory for her success. In 2005, she received the Commemorative Medal for the Centennial of Saskatchewan in recognition of her contributions and outstanding achievements in the field of Child Care. The greatest joy of Alvera’s life was her children and grandchildren. She married Ben Wolf in 1967 and had her last child in 1970. She was involved in the lives of all her children and grandchildren, rejoicing in their accomplishments and empathizing with the challenges in their lives. Alvera dedicated her life to serving the Lord. She was an active member of the Regina Fellowship Assembly. Her ministry was a lifelong commitment to children. She is survived by her children: Roy (Nancy) Mironuck, Les (Oksana) Mironuck, Charlene (Ian) Third and Candace (Trevor) Sundbo; by her grandchildren: Jeff, Lisa, Steve, Lyndsey (John), Chad, Nicole (Matt), Tyler, Hudson, Natalia; by her great-grandchildren: Landen, Dominic; by her second husband, Ben Wolf; by her siblings: John (Annamae), Melba (Joe); by her sister-in-law, Elsie and brother-in-law, Stan (Audrey); by many nieces and nephews. Alvera was predeceased by her first husband Daniel and her parents Roy and Lilian Strain. In lieu of flowers, donations in memorial, may be made to orphans through Global Missions, P.O.
