Obituary of Margaret 'Marge' Marie May

MARGARET “MARGE” MARIE MAY (née ELLIS) Marge joined her loving husband Jake May; parents, Maggie and John Ellis; siblings, Irene, Stanley, John, and Doreen Adams and infant twins Daphne and Donald; and special son-in-law Ron Jakobs on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the age of 90 years. The sun and stars will shine brighter as Marge dances her way through the sky in peace. Cherishing memories of Marge’s sweet soul are her children, Gerald May (Pat) and Melanie Jakobs; granddaughters, Stephanie and Jan and their families. Marge was blessed to be part of a large family. Her sisters (also known as the “Ellis bevy of beautiful girls”) - Jean Busch, Evelyn (Bob) Walker, Eleanor Bauman, Myrna (Bev) Bell, Pat (Len) Flaman and Diana (Jeff) Emick will keep Marge’s memory alive in their laughter and love. Marge’s early years were spent working at a downtown dental lab. After raising their two children, Marge got a job at the “new” Bay on Hamilton Street where her outgoing personality shone. Clients of the Men’s Department loved her ability to match ties to their new suits. In her later life, Marge struggled and moved into Dove House and finally into her last home at Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home. Marge was known by everyone as the “happy lady who sang and danced in the hallways”. Rumour has it that she pinched Rory Allen’s bum on more than one occasion as he entertained at Santa Maria. The family is grateful to the caring staff at both homes who treated Marge with love and dignity. Gerald and Melanie would also like to acknowledge the care given by sisters, Evelyn Walker and Myrna Bell and special friend Margaret Bachynski. A Celebration of Marge’s Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers most gratefully declined.
