Obituary of Phyllis Mary Brennan

March 31, 1924 – December 15, 2015 Romans 14:8 “For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s”. At 91 years of age, Phyllis is welcomed at the gates of heaven by her late husband James Richard Brennan (October 23, 1993); daughter Colleen Jean Flett (January 30, 2004) and son-in-law Gary Lawrence Beckie (November 11, 2001). Born in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan to Margaret and Norman Mahaffy, Phyllis grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, attending St. Joseph’s Elementary School, Nutana Collegiate and Saskatoon Business College, where she accepted a teaching position. Phyllis married Jim, her childhood sweetheart, on October 2nd, 1946. They began their life together in Saskatoon where Jim was employed by Wilson Stationary. Transfers soon followed to Brandon, Manitoba, Thunder Bay, Ontario and finally to Regina. In 1968 they opened Brennan Supply Limited in Regina where Phyllis was an integral part of the business, working side by side with Jim for over 20 years. It was with great love that Phyllis raised her five children, Colleen (Ed Flett – Luke and Geordin of Red Deer); Robert (Jane Welsh - Thomas, Monica and Olivia of Regina); William (Julie Hughes – Casey of Regina); Maureen ( Nelson Greene – Shannon and Billy of Vancouver); Sheila (Gary - Alysha, Drew, Jenelle and Janine of Denver). Phyllis’ 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren were so very important to her. She enjoyed watching all of their activities and following their lives as they have moved through school, activities and marriages. As a life-long member of St. Martin’s Catholic Parish, Phyllis was an active member for over 50 years of the Catholic Women’s League. She spent a great deal of time supporting a variety of charities through time and treasure. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the 4th Floor, Pasqua Hospital for their outstanding care and kind service to our Phyllis. Our appreciation also goes to Solace for their time caring for Phyllis. Funeral Service will be held at St. Martins Roman Catholic Church, 4720 Castle Rd, Regina, SK on Friday January 8, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Her cremated remains will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phyllis’ name to St. Martins Roman Catholic Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
