Obituary of Gerald 'Jerry' Kuffner

GERALD “JERRY” KUFFNER January 15, 1942 – December 13, 2015 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald “Jerry” Kuffner on December 13, 2015, at the age of 73 years after a very brief battle with cancer. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Andrew Kuffner and sister Gloria Legault (2014). He will be dearly missed by son Andrew (Dani); daughter Carolynn (Darren); step daughter Blayne Moreau-Smith (Willy); brother John Kuffner; step son Chris Schifferns and his children along with many others. Grandchildren Jace and Jordan Kuffner, Niyah and Annaka King will miss their “Grandpa J” and the hours of entertainment that his false teeth provided them, even establishing the phrase “pink mouthguards” from his grandson Jordan. The fashion world will also mourn as he was one of the founding fathers of black socks with sandals, colored sweat pants with mismatched colored shirts and his full head of thick white hair. Triple 7 Pizza will notice a decline in revenue as he will no longer be ordering gourmet meals from a pizza box and the Riders will have an absence of one diehard fan. Jerry was born and raised in Regina and carried on the family shoe repair business for many years at Victoria Shoe Repair, then the RCMP Leathercraft shop and finally retiring to work alongside his son Andrew at Frank’s Shoe Repair until his full retirement in 2005. Jerry adored every aspect of being a father and grandfather, enjoying many sleepovers with his “buddy” Jace and many trips to Calgary to spend time with Niyah and Annaka. Jerry loved his sense of humor, even when it didn’t make sense to any of us. The family would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the friendship of Jerry’s “Good Friend Garry King” as we are sure that is his full legal name. A service will be held in 2016 and in keeping with Jerry’s request we will surprise him with where we will spread his ashes.
