Obituary of Rose Mary Baker

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose Mary Baker. Rose will be greeted in heaven by her husband Norman who passed away in April, 2014; her mother Magdalena Noll; her father Nick Noll; her daughter Carol who died at birth, along with her brothers and sisters and their family members that have predeceased her. Left to cherish her memory, her children Neil (Anne), of Denver, Colorado, Darrell (Maureen) of Regina; grandchildren Tim (Maria) Baker of Ottawa, Ontario, Doug (Jan) Thomson of San Diego, California, James Thomson of Denver, Colorado, Kim (Dean) Mihalicz, of Denver, Colorado, Griff (Twyla Exner) Baker of Grande Prairie, Alberta; great grandchildren Violet and Cohen Baker, Cole Thomson, Lily Thomson, Zach and Zoe Mihalicz along with many nieces and nephews. Rose grew up on a farm near Estlin, Saskatchewan. Throughout her younger years, she was a star softball pitcher. In 1947, she moved to Chicago to play professional softball with the American Softball League. Rose and Norman were married Oct. 4, 1947. Along with Norman, in 1957, they incorporated Bakers Electric Ltd. and they built it into one of the most successful electrical contracting businesses in Saskatchewan. They also established a very successful real estate development company. She had a lifelong love of sports. She especially enjoyed watching her sons and grandchildren play sports. She also was a proud member of Saint Anne’s Parish Church and was a lifelong member of the CWL. She and Norman travelled the world with family and friends. Their travels took them to Europe, China, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia. A Celebration of Rose’s Life will be held at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, 1701 Cowen Cres., Regina, SK, on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rose’s name to the charity of your choice. We would also like to give special thanks to Dr. Kuzmicz for her loving care over many years; and to her special caretakers for the last few years Sara, Kelsey, Myrna, Alice and Michelle.
