Obituary of Lorraine May Hesse

LORRAINE MAY HESSE May 12, 1935 - January 1, 2016 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lorraine May Hesse (née Seibel), of Regina, SK, on Friday, January 1, 2016 at the age of 80 years. Lorraine was the cherished and greatly loved wife of Charles Hesse, married for 61 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Deborah Richter; sons, Timothy (Bev) Hesse and Douglas Hesse; her six precious grandchildren, Michelle (George Flengeris) Richter, Scott (Tanis) Richter, Tara Richter, Adam (Erin) Richter, Shawn Hesse, and Chad (Jenna) Hesse; and six great-grandchildren, Noah, Isaiah, Sophia, Roman, Ashlyn and Kensington; sisters, Evelyn O'Shaugnessy and Eleanor Leopky; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marianne Yule, Agnes Schmidt, Edith Hesse, Anne Hesse, Otto (Anita) Hesse, John (Vicki) Fahlman, Swede Johnson and Bruce McNamee; as well as many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Amelia and Godfried Seibel; and sisters, Louise Sutherland, Lilian Johnson, and Doreen McNamee. Born in Holonquist, SK, she was the fourth of six girls. Upon the death of her father the family moved and resided in Swift Current, SK until her marriage when she moved and resided in Regina, SK. A woman true to herself, she took great pride and joy in being a homemaker, spending endless hours cooking and baking for the enjoyment of her family and others. No one ever left her house without a "Care Package" and was affectionately known by her grandchildren as "The Treat Grandma." She enjoyed dancing, entertaining, rug-hooking, going to the casino and spending many hours with her family. She was an avid swimmer in her day and was a self-taught, accomplished seamstress. Her intelligence and wit made her a woman ahead of her time, always challenging others to see things in a new way. Grateful for everything, polite, well-mannered, funny with a contagious laugh and her beautiful singing voice were gifts to all of us. Her language of love was service to others and she will be dearly missed by all. We now celebrate her eternal happiness and presence with God; free of all pain and suffering. A special thank-you to all the doctors and nurses who provided care during her lengthy illness. Funeral Mass to be held at Our Lady of Peace Parish, 425 Broad Street North, Regina on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Peter Thang Nguyen celebrating.
