Deana and family,
I have very few words to say. Since I heard the news of Al's illness and passing, I cannot stop thinking of you enduring this horrible time of sadness. Working with you and Al (and Dave!) over the last few years has been an honor. It is not what you do - it is HOW you both did it! Thank-you for having Children's Wish in your lives and making time to cause a difference in our imperfect world and filling it with wonderfully caring and skilled folks like you and your family.

I am so sad to hear about Al's passing. When I was considering the ministry, Al served on my discernment committee. He brought wisdom and wit to our deliberations. I will always remember his kindness and generosity of time. God Bless.

I recall Allan from his activites with the cub group which met at St. Josophat School several years ago. Allan made a significant, quiet contribution to the cub pack as a father/leader. My sincere condolences are extended to his family.

My deepest sympathies, Deana, on Al's death! Such a warm and friendly spirit in this Conference! You will miss him very much. I pray that you may sense God journeying with you in the days, weeks, months ahead. I take comfort in Psalm 139 and in the words of one of the Communion liturgies from Celebrate God's Presence, reminding us that he rejoices when we rejoice and weeps when we weep. God bless you and watch over you and your family.

My deepest sympathies to you, Deana, and all your family. I was shocked and very saddened to read of Al's passing today....you likely don't remember, but I met you at several tradeshows (starting in Swift Current) and bought books from you - as SO many others have! The two of you have such a way with words, and working together has been a special bond for so many years. Al had a story for everything!! I will be thinking of you in the coming days, and send prayers of comfort and healing to you all!

Wayne and I are so sorry for Al's loss. He fought a good fight. It was good to see him and speak to him at the steak night. He said to tell Wayne he would see him at the Pat's games this year. Sadly, that didn't happen. I will always picture Al and his dad Bill, between periods at the games years ago, walking around the rink, the tallest two guys there. They were easy to spot at a distance. Two very special people. Our condolences to all of the family.

Dear Deana, Mrs. Driver, Linda, the children and grandchildren:
My deepest condolences at the loss of Al. I was not aware of his condition until this past Saturday and it still shocks me that this has happened. I truly regret not having the opportunity to talking to him one last time.
Because being three years older than me he never should have been the friend he was. Living next door to each other growing up and going to Thom we never really were much more than acquaintances with one being in grade 12 and one in grade 9. Yet he was kind to me way back then offering me rides to school on those bitter cold days I had to walk. But as time went on before he left for Calgary he became part of my circle of friends and who can ever forget all of those football games at the park! And I remember him cheering for the Red Wings - when no one else did because they were so lousy at the time.
I remember running into Al while I was visiting friends in Calgary and after eating at the Keg running into him in downtown Calgary. It was a great and pleasant re-union.
Time passed and before you knew it Al and Deana were living a few blocks from where we lived. Our kids went to the same school so we would run into each other there or at Pats games (always with his dad). Soon after Lisa was babysitting our kids and Dave was working with us at Boston Pizza.
I looked forward to the many "family" get together's at Boston Pizza the Driver's had - being able to talk to all of you and catch up with Mrs. Driver. Al would always ask how my parents were doing in Winnipeg. I think Al looked forward to those as well because one day not long ago he showed up in my office - the last time I saw him. I was surprised to see him but he said he had missed seeing me in the store when they visited. After being told by one of the staff that I did not spend much time at the store anymore he made it a point to come to my office just to talk and to catch up on where my life was. But that was Al - so much time for everyone else always willing to lend a hand and always willing to do it in the background. I can honestly say that I cannot recall once that Al expressed and anger towards me and I am certain he had many opportunities.
I am deeply saddened with his loss as all of you are. But for all of us it truly was a blessing to have known him and I am truly honored that he counted me as a friend.

Dear Deana, Ellen and Families,
My heart is very sad right now, knowing that a school chum and good neighbour is gone. But I do take a lot of comfort in what Al accomplished during his life! It truly made me smile when I read the obituary, seeing all the many projects Al had been involved in, during those (what I think are) short years. Lots of success, there!
No more pain. That is a comfort, knowing that as well. He is whole, perfect and will be with you all, as you navigate through your grief and come out the other end. Please know that I am thinking of you all with lots of love and sympathy. Huge hugs to you and sending lots of healing light....

So sorry to hear of al's passing. Although we have not seen each other very often in the past years I still regard al as one of my best friends. One of my best memories is when al was a cub reporter and I was making licence plates we would spend many late nights at trifions pizza talking about every thing under the sun. I can't make it to the celebration I will be leaving for Belize that week. Many condolences love willie.
