LEONARD L. HACKEWICH
June 2, 1942 - January 6, 2016
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Len Hackewich, though we are comforted by the knowledge that his suffering has ended. Len was predeceased by his parents, Amelia and Mike Hackewich; sisters, Helen Tester and Elsie Bousquet; brothers, Ed, Percy, and Cliff; father and mother-in-law George and Alice Isted; and brother-in-law Jim Isted. Len will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 50 years, Betty; son David (Charlene Exner); daughter Tracy (Robb Knippelberg); step-granddaughter Emily; sister Agnes Copping, brother Ken (Karen); in-laws, Herb (Joyce) Isted, Doug (Kim) Isted, Wayne (Sandy) Isted, Art (Lynn) Isted, Rose (Ron) Sharpe; numerous nieces and nephews; and his little buddy Maggie the dog. If a life could be summed up with a single word, the word for Len would be dedication. Whether it was his marriage, raising his children, taking care of his home, or his 39 year career at Wascana Centre Authority, Len quietly set about doing what needed to be done. We will cherish our memories of his little jokes, his silly songs and, most of all, his love. Friends and family are invited to an informal memorial luncheon at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations in Len’s memory to the charity of their choice.
