Obituary of Katherine Rose Warnecke

August 16, 1922 – January 9, 2016 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Katherine Rose Warnecke (nee Thauberger) on Saturday January 9, 2016 at the age of 93 years. Kay was predeceased by her husband Clarence (1992); her parents Joseph and Barbara; stepmother Agnes; siblings and in-laws, Adam (Katherine), John, Ida (Matt) Brilz, Betty (Mike) Danylchuk and Pauline (John) Folk. She leaves to mourn her children Richard (Sandi) of Blind Bay, BC, Brian (Aline) of Regina, SK and James of Regina, SK; grandchildren Tara Jahn, Michael (Angie), Christopher (Kyla), Patrick (Megan Potter) and Craig (Kelli); great grandchildren, Brooke, Adam, Griffin, Maddie, Ellie and Vaida. Kay was born on August 16, 1922 at Holdfast, Saskatchewan. She moved to Regina to complete her education and took a secretarial course, followed by working in various courthouses in Southern Saskatchewan. While working at the Weyburn courthouse, she met the love of her life Clarence Warnecke. They were married in November of 1948 and lived in Regina for the rest of their lives. Kay worked full time until Rick came along, she then worked part-time for Sears. Kay was very involved with maintaining the household and was involved with the boys’ various school and sporting activities. Both Clarence and Kay were actively involved with Sacred Heart R.C. Church (Men’s Club and CWL). Kay also catered to various functions that took place in the Ryan Auditorium. Once Clarence passed away she continued spending time with family and friends, playing cards, visiting, baking and getting her hands dirty in the garden. As well, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren and attended their sporting events. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude and thanks to the staff at the various care homes; Parkside Extendicare and the latter William Booth. A Celebration of Kay’s Life will take place at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Thursday January 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers those so wishing may make a memorial donation in Kay’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
