Beverley Spencer

Obituary of Beverley Jean Spencer

Our dear Beverley passed away peacefully, and with her usual quiet dignity, on the evening of January 15, 2016. Beverley Jean was born in Prince Albert on June 25, 1947, treasured only child of Leona and Wilf Garlick. Bev will be missed so much by all who knew and loved her, most especially by her husband of 47 years, Lyle; and by her son, Chris; daughter-in-law Rhonda, and grandchildren Brandon and Jessica. Her family and her home were the centre of Bev’s life. Failing health in recent years did not stop her from living her life, or from enjoying her family and friends. Bev had an amazing capacity for making others feel special. She treasured her friends and never forgot an occasion. Bev had a wonderful sense of humour and could still make us laugh, even in her last days. Bev attended elementary and high school in Prince Albert, and then went to the University of Saskatchewan where she studied to become a teacher. She taught in Borden SK, then in Regina at Imperial School. Bev married Lyle, her high school sweetheart, in 1968. Chris was born in 1971. The family lived in Regina, Thunder Bay, and Winnipeg, finally returning to settle in Regina. She always was a Saskatchewan girl at heart. Bev’s other loves included her church, her cats, travelling and shopping. Bev was predeceased by her parents, Leona and Wilf Garlick, and by her special aunt, Elsie Kernaghan. She is survived by her husband Lyle, and son Chris (Rhonda). Bev’s family would like to thank Dr Elizabeth Cameron, Dr Ram Abdulla, and the medical and nursing staff who provided palliative care over the past four months. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Ave, Regina, SK on Tuesday January 19, 2016 from 6:30 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church, 142 Massey Road, Regina, SK on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service. Interment will be at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined, but you are invited to donate to The Palliative Care Unit, Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK, S4T 1A5, or to the charity of your choice.
