Obituary of James Austin Neithercut

JAMES (JIM) AUSTIN NEITHERCUT May 31, 1946 – January 14, 2016 With overwhelming heartache the family of James Austin Neithercut announces his passing on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the age of 69 years. Jim was born on May 31, 1946 in Regina, SK. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Janet Neithercut; his sister Wanda and several aunts and uncles; special friends, his surrogate father Glen Donaldson; Bill Dobbie his driving partner for years and Len Foti his neighbor and long-time friend. He is survived by his devoted children Michael Neithercut and Jamie Neithercut (Owen); his wonderful grandchildren Loveday (Lovey) Neithercut and Caleb-James Neithercut; by his brothers Barry Neithercut and Donny Neithercut; his sister Dody Johnson (Clarence); surrogate brother Lawney Donaldson (June and Children); his aunt Doreen Neithercut; cousin Jack Neithercut and several other cousins; brother-in-law Richard Lemon; as well as long time family friends Dennis Demyen (late wife Barb), Kathy Dobbie, Ken Howlett (his sisters and brothers), Kevin Gillies (Dawn and Children), Bonnie Jans, Jon Rowe and many more family and friends. Jim attended Connaught Elementary school for a period of time as a child. He attended both Scott Collegiate and Thom Collegiate for high school. Throughout his adult life he enjoyed learning, whether it is from others or taking the occasional courses such as electronics, computer programming or key and locks. He loved hunting, fishing, travelling, camping, and playing computer games for countless hours. Jim loved tinkering and was very ingenious when it came to fixing things. He always had the coffee on and those who knew him, might be surprised to learn that over his life he ingested an estimated thirteen thousand tons of sugar; and surprisingly he didn’t have sugar diabetes. For anyone who knew Jim it would be safe to say he was a “Jack Of All Trades”. He did everything from joining the army when he was young, to owning his own painting business, welding and being a non-journeyman mechanic for himself to family and friends. Jim was a long haul semi driver for 28 years of his life for several different trucking companies including driving for himself and owning his own semi; driving truck was his passion. He received a safe driving award for the 2 ½ million miles that he drove during his lifetime. When Jim had to stop trucking, he became a building manager at a local Regina apartment for many years. He retired from the apartment and moved to Cupar, SK., however when he became ill he moved back to Regina and stayed with his daughter and two grandchildren. He went through cancer treatments and found he was in remission in December 2015. At Jim’s request there will be no Funeral Service. Sometime around his birthday there will be a get together to celebrate his life.
