Obituary of Domenica Carteri

Domenica passed away on Sunday January 17, 2016. She was called to return to her God and joined the company of her late husband. Domenica passed away surrounded by her loving family at the age of 79. She was predeceased by her husband Rosario Carteri; mother Maria Cutri; father Carmelo Marafioti and stepmother Carmela Caruso. Domenica is survived by her sister Peppina (Domenico) Anile of Sarono Varese Italy; her children Leo (Theresa), Carmelo (Cyndie), Tony (Judy), Pino, Anna and Maria (Todd); grandchildren Joseph, Jason, Stephanie, Mica, AriAnna, Rosario, Joelle, Chris and Dallas; great grandson Jayden as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Regina, Italy, France, Boston and Australia. Domenica was born on October 17, 1936 in San Procopio province of Reggio Calabria, Italy. She married Rosario and they immigrated to Canada in 1956. Domenica devoted her life to her family, especially to her grandchildren. Domenica was passionate and dedicated to her work as the cook at the G. Marconi Canadian Italian Club. For over 40 years, she added her main ingredient to the food she prepared for every event held at the Italian Club - that ingredient was her heart. She retired in 2013 to spend more time with her grandchildren. Domenica was happiest when she was in the kitchen making food for her family to enjoy on Sunday’s and holidays. In addition she was also a childcare provider to numerous children whom she loved like her own, many of which still fondly call her Mamma Carteri. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family R.C. Church, 1021 McCarthy Blvd., Regina, SK, on Monday January 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Carlos Jimenez Celebrant. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Friends and family are invited for lunch to the Italian Club, 2148 Connaught Street, Regina. Thank you to the staff at the Pasqua Hospital unit 3D and ICU for your loving care of our mother.
