Obituary of Edward (Ted) Manley Gyles
Ted passed away at the Regina Pasqua Hospital at the age of 87 years. Ted is survived by his wife Mary and his children Lizanne Clark (Bob) of Kelowna, Laura Gyles of Regina, Ellen Gyles-Scott (Glenn) of Vancouver, and his only and favorite son Mark (Heather) of Banff, his grandchildren Michael (Regina), Cameron (Saskatoon), Madison (Calgary), great-grandson Kovian (Saskatoon) and his sister Betty Carrington (Saskatoon). Ted was predeceased by his brother Arthur Gyles (Regina) and his parents Reginald and Dickie Gyles of Saskatoon. Ted was a great outdoorsman, and even though he loved hunting and fishing, he supported the wildlife habitats through his 25 year participation in Ducks Unlimited. He especially loved spending the summers with his family at the cabin in Wadin Bay, Sask. Ted was an avid runner and spent 25 years running out of the YMCA with many 21k's and half-marathon's to his credit. Ted retired in 1998 after 40 years as VP of Bearing & Transmission in Regina but continued working and investing in various companies and managing his stock portfolio. One of Ted's greatest accomplishments was his fellowship with the Regina Eastview Rotary which he joined in 1961 and served as President in 1980-81. Ted said "that if it had not been for Rotary to guide me and show me how to use the four way test in my dealings in life- it could have been much different." Ted will be missed by his family and many close friends. At the family's request, there will be no funeral services but a memorial will be held in the spring/summer.
