Obituary
Obituary of Phillip Raymond Alderson
It is with profound sadness the family of Phillip Raymond Alderson announces his sudden passing on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at age 38. Predeceased by his grandparents Ida and Phil Jordan.
Phil is survived by his loving wife Shelly; mother Edith Melanson and stepfather Jacques Ratte; uncle Jim Jordan; father-in law and mother-in-law Jim and Carolynn Gopfrich; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shauna and Brad Wall and nephews Tony and Lyle Wall.
Phil was born in Toronto on May 26, 1977 and attended elementary and high school there. He finished grade 12 in Thunder Bay. During his younger years, Phil enjoyed spectator sports and video games which grew into his love of gaming.
Phil held numerous jobs in Toronto at Rogers Cable Co., MacDonalds and Walmart. When Phil came out west, he held various positions at 7Eleven, Home Depot and Regina Cabs as well as being a security guard at numerous places in the city. He was currently employed at SRG Security Co.
Phil was an avid sports fan. His football loyalty was divided between the Roughriders and his beloved Hamilton Tiger Cats but whenever the TiCats played, he cheered for them. He was in his glory when the TiCats played the Riders in the Grey Cup because it was a win win for him. Secretly, he was still hoping for Hamilton. As a basketball fan, he favored the Chicago Bulls. After coming out west, his loyalty switched to the Raptors. He was well versed on all the statistics of the teams. For Phil, this year in baseball was remarkable with his Blue Jays doing so well. He was not a hockey fan, but he did often remark "Put a mark on the wall, the Maple Leafs won a game!"
Phil was a passionate gamer, with an awesome collection. He tried to attend as many tournaments as possible. His latest passion was wrestling. He immersed himself in the sport by watching wrestling on television, in movies and attending shows. He was so excited when HIW started here. He was their number one fan.
Phil's greatest gift was making friends with all those he met. Phil reconnected with the love of his life in 2003 and they were married in June of 2008. Phil and Shelly enjoyed family, friends and the many activities centered around their interests. As Shelly so beautifully said, "He was my best friend, my support, my rock. He opened my eyes to the world and let me into his. I miss him."
We will all miss him. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Wednesday February 10, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phil’s name to the Kinsmen Telemiracle, 2217 C Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 6A8 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1V9.
