Obituary of Ralph Garry Aldridge

Ralph 'Garry' Aldridge passed away Sunday February 7, 2016 at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon (ICU Unit), with his wife and family by his side. Garry was born in Moose Jaw, SK on March 3, 1951. The eldest of five children, he grew up on the family farm and attended elementary and high school in Moose Jaw. He began his career in news media in 1969, which included roles as CBC National Reporter for Saskatchewan and Parliament Hill Reporter for CBC Radio News. In 1981 Garry left the news media and went to work for Allan Blakeney, as Speech Writer and Director of Communications. He then served as Chief of Staff for Roy Romanow, both in opposition and in government. Since July 1996, Garry was President of his own firm, Points West Consulting. Garry met and married his high school sweetheart, Carol Herrod. They would have been married 46 years, this March 14, 2016. Together, Garry and Carol have five children, Gary (Diane), Patti (Eric), Bob (Jan), Jeremy (Tanya) and Nicole. They have eight grandchildren, Desha, Chloe, Alyssa, Kyle, Rilyn, Taelyn, Brody and Brooklyn. Garry was a big part of his children and grandchildren's lives. He adored them and was their biggest fan. Along with his wife, children and grandchildren, he is survived by his brother Gerard (Margaret); his two sisters Nancy (Guy), Carol (Rick) and their families. Garry was predeceased by his parents Carman and Gertrude and his brother Ron. A Celebration of Garry’s Life and Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Cathedral, 1325 13th Avenue, Regina, SK, on Thursday February 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. The family wishes to thank Garry's ICU nurse, Tamara and attending physician, Dr. Masri for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Garry may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4P 2R3.
